Delaware or Bust

Greg went to Delaware for two weeks and Bethanie and I were able to join him for the second week. We enjoyed a fun-filled weekend and lazy weekdays (at least for baby and I). We went to Chesapeake City in Maryland for dinner, the National Mall in Washington D.C., and then the Delaware beaches all in one weekend. Bethanie and I between the Washington monument and the Lincoln Memorial. We really needed more than one day to explore the National Mall and would have enjoyed seeing all the Smithsonian exhibits as it was we were only able to make it through the Air and Space Museum. (Unfortunately, the American History building was closed for remodeling and of course it was only two months away from reopening.) I was touched by all of the war memorials especially the Vietnam War memorial I am not sure if it was emotional for me because it was a war during my lifetime or the culmination of all the memorials and all the lives lost. I was overwhelmed with an appreciation for those who have fought for my freedom.
The Lincoln Memorial. I had no idea Lincoln was so BIG! Actually my favorite part of the exhibit were the little signs that asked visitors to be respectfully quiet. It just seemed to be the right thing to do.
A Delaware beach with the cutiest Baby in the world checking things out. Delaware was a great place to visit but it is always nice to return home. Other than the airlines breaking the stroller, cancelling one leg of our flight and cancelling my return reservation it was a great vacation and we look forward to joining Greg on other business trips. The only thing missing was our Bailee.
